We are seeking a Support Worker to support all areas of child care and supervision relating to the balletLORENT Youth Academy, classes, and other learning and participation activity in Newcastle.
The role reports to the Education and Projects Manager and will collaborate closely with the Artistic Director and Creative Team.
Offered on a causal basis at £12 per hour. Usual work pattern will be around 3.30pm-7.30pm every Monday during term time, plus some extra days/evenings during intensive weeks and performance periods, subject to prior agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel
Accompany children and young people attending the balletLORENT Youth Academy/other learning and participation activities who require travel assistance to and from their home address, or agreed location, ensuring their safety at all times, and that they are met by their parent/guardian when returning home. balletLORENT will book and provide transportation through a local taxi company.
Maintain appropriate and timely contact with parents/guardians of children and young people to inform them of pick up/drop off times, and any unforeseen changes in circumstances/arrangement.
Maintain open and regular communication with the Education and Projects Manager, or session leaders to ensure up to date and relevant information regarding pick up/drop off addresses and times is passed on.
Class/Rehearsal Support
Supervise children and young people participating in balletLORENT activities before and after they commence, and during breaks, including accompanying younger children or those with additional support needs for toilet breaks, and assisting those who need support with refreshments.
Supervise children and young people who require support in the break out room during sessions, including ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those with additional support needs.
Assist in the evacuation of children and young people from the class/rehearsal/performance venue in an emergency situation in conjunction with other staff members.
Chaperone
To act as licensed chaperone at professional balletLORENT Newacstle or occasional north east based events where children and young people are engaged for performances or filming. (If they don’t already hold a valid professional chaperone license, the successful applicant will be required to apply for a professional chaperone license on appointment. balletLORENT will cover costs and give instruction for applying)
Safeguarding
Share any safeguarding concerns immediately with balletLORENT’s Safeguarding Officer, or in their absence, the Deputy Safeguarding Officer, as outlined in balletLORENT’s Safeguarding Policy.
Other
To attend planning meetings with the Education and Projects Manager and Creative Team as required.
Take on other duties relevant to the post, as required by the Education and Projects Manager and Creative Team, and achievable during contracted hours.
Essential Skills/Requirements
This post is subject to screening. The successful candidate will be expected to successfully obtain a professional chaperone license, which balletLORENT will help with.
The successful candidate may be expected to undertake safeguarding, basic first aid, neurodiversity, and other relevant training, provided by balletLORENT.
