Liv Lorent has immensely enjoyed working with Newton's Ladder on their commissioned piece Sirin (Hope Is The Thing With Feathers).
A brave rigger woos a nesting bird woman with roses and during an aerial courtship their relationship of prey and predator changes. Drawn from the ancient myths of man falling in love with beautiful half human creatures this love story is an up to date expression of the innate human ambition to capture, possess and tame the extraordinary.
Through narrative aerial choreography two compelling performers create an involving and emotional impact through visceral and ambitious images that stay in the memory.
Liv and Newton's Ladder are hoping to take the piece on tour in the near future. This performance is suitable for outdoor spaces and for audiences of all ages. It was performed at both Mouth of the Tyne Festival and Stockton International Riverside Festival by Newton's Ladder in 2017.
