Honoring the region’s rich creative talent, recognising inspiring performances, visionary artists, and impactful cultural contributions.
The awards are a standout event in the region’s cultural calendar, bringing together artists, performers, and art lovers to celebrate the region’s finest achievements in the arts. Reach plc, is behind the awards, publisher of The Journal, The Chronicle, The Gazette, and websites ChronicleLive and TeessideLive in the North East. For 2024, Sunderland City Council and the University of Sunderland, both long-time supporters of the awards, are headline partners, further strengthening their commitment to the arts and culture in the North East.
Nominated for Performance of the Year: The Velveteen Rabbit
Our production of The Velveteen Rabbit has been honored with a nomination for Performance of the Year. This award, sponsored by North East Cultural Partnership recognises individuals, groups, or companies who have delivered a truly memorable and inspiring performance in the North East between September 2023 and September 2024. The Velveteen Rabbit captivated audiences with its emotional storytelling, innovative staging, and heartfelt performances across multiple venues across the North East, making it a deserving contender in this competitive category. This nomination is a testament to the hard work and passion of our talented cast and team, who brought this beloved story to life.
Performing Artist of the Year: Celebrating Natalie MacGillivray
We’re also incredibly proud that Natalie MacGillivray, an inspiring performer known for her dynamic presence and expressive artistry, has been shortlisted for Performer Artist of the Year. Sponsored by the University of Sunderland, this award celebrates individual performers who have truly stood out over the past year. From dancers and musicians to poets and comedians, the category recognises those who leave a lasting impression on audiences. Natalie’s dedication and talent have moved audiences throughout the year, and we are delighted to see her work recognised alongside other outstanding North East performers.
