Breaking Grey
For International Men’s Day 2021, ‘Breaking grey’, by Albie Crompton, with Choreography by Liv Lorent, Toby Fitzgibbons & Gavin Coward.
Rating: U
Film length: 7:33
Too often men can feel they need to repress their emotions, be stoical, keep quiet, but here we see that male friendship is powerful, and the encouragement to express those repressed emotions can save lives. There can be laughter, energy and silliness after darkness.
Our 13 year old collaborator Albie Crompton has directed and edited this film for us. He also created the score and vocals for ‘Breaking grey’. (Previous work includes ‘lullaby’, ‘The Things That Wait’, ‘Parade’ and ‘The Current’).
It’s quite unusual to give creative responsibility and performance opportunity to young people at the very heart of our artistic work, but it is something balletLORENT has done for decades. We will always do it.
